Heart Problem Symptoms With One Idea That Can Save a Life!

Today I’m going to share with you some common heart problem symptoms with an idea that can save a life.

In America there is one disease that tops the charts when it comes to killing people and do you know what it is?  It is heart disease!

Just like an automobile has a check engine light, your body will usually let you know if there is a problem, by providing you with symptoms.

By knowing the symptoms it can be a wake up call to change a few things and thus save a person’s life. The first warning signal, which is almost universal for a lot of health problems is pain.  Pain lets you know that something isn’t working right or there is a problem.

Signs that I had when I experienced a minor heart attack over 20 years ago was an almost constant  pain between my shoulder blades.  At the time I was vacationing out of country.

It was not until I returned home that I suffered the follow up, which included all of the classic symptoms.  Fortunately, in my case, I was lucky and my heart repaired itself.

With heart problems the pain is usually felt in the chest area. Some people describe this pain as if something heavy was sitting on their chest. It could be a feeling of pressure as well as a squeezing sensation.

It’s also important to know that chest pain could be something besides heart problems, such as heartburn. Heartburn takes place when stomach acid splashes up into the esophagus and the pain is near the heart.  That is a different health problem altogether.

Another warning sign is an irregular heart beat, especially if someone experiences shortness of breath, dizziness or weakness with the irregular heart beat. These are all signs of a heart problem, and that not enough blood is getting to locations that need it.  For example if not enough blood is reaching the brain a person can feel a little dizzy.

When a person has a heart problem the heart has a more challenging time pumping blood to locations that need it.  Another thing that happens is that blood can back up in the cardiovascular system. This can cause fluid to leak into the lungs resulting in breathing problems, such as shortness of breath.

Next up, when something is in the lungs, such as fluid or mucus, what other symptom do you think this produces?  Yes, someone will probably cough to eliminate what is in their lungs. When a person has heart disease they might cough up a bloody mucus substance.

The first thing someone can do if they experience any of these symptoms is to take something that thins blood. Thin blood can help blood move and not get clogged up in the cardiovascular system.

An example of this would be Aspirin, (usually two 81 mg Aspirins are recommended, chewed before swallowing), which according to WebMd slows blood clotting and decreases the size of blood clots that have been formed.

If taken daily, however, Aspirin can have a negative effect and that is it can harm the stomach.  It was recently on TV that Aspirin should not be take regularly by those over 70 years of age unless especially prescribed.

To sum everything up, the leading heart problem symptoms include pain in the chest area, an irregular heart beat, dizziness, shortness of breath, coughing, or even nausea.

A person could take aspirin at the first sign of a heart problem and this could save their life.

Zero Medication Tips to Stop Heart Disease

In this changing world, we just can’t stop all the factors that contribute to heart disease. We allow these processes to take place believing that they are inevitable and necessary in supporting our survival. In effect, the body suffers. Here are some tips to stop heart disease without the help of any medications.

Say No to Smoking

The primary risk factor of acquiring heart diseases can be attributed to smoking. Ironically, some people believe that in order to prevent stress, using tobacco products is the best solution. Well, there is just no amount of tobacco that the body can tolerate.

Containing more than four thousand toxic chemicals, tobacco smoke can damage the heart and its blood vessels. In effect, the more complex structure of arteries narrows down. When it clogs up, the heart stops pumping blood.

In order for the heart to transport life to other parts of the body, it needs oxygen. Smoking impairs this process by replacing the oxygen with carbon monoxide.

Move it, move it!

In order for the body to remain warm, certain process needs to keep taking place – metabolism. It is the process of burning food energy known as calories. With the decreased ability to burn calories, the body is unlikely to prevent the generation of fats.

Too much fats in the body is not good for the heart. Therefore, to keep the heart functioning properly, ideal weight must be maintained. Regular exercise is the key in making this happen.

Weigh Healthy

One of the key requirements in maintaining a healthy heart is maintaining a healthy weight. It can be achieved by eating the right food and doing the right things.

A good diet should include fruits and vegetables. Although there are some nutrients that the body need from meat, vegetables and fruits do not contain fats.

Physical activities should not be limited to regular exercise. Time is not always a luxury. Keeping your body physically active will compensate for the lack of regular exercise. These activities will help you maintain appropriate weight therefore reducing your chances of getting heart diseases.

Weighing healthy is achievable provided that all the necessary requirements are met. It is crucial to understand that reducing weight is slower than gaining it. Hence, all the hard work needs to be done double time.

While there are many resources available today suggesting various methods of weight reduction, keeping these fundamentals in mind can help you achieve your goals.

As always, your comments or questions are welcome.

Weight Loss Mistakes You Should Avoid Making

When you are slim you are better looking. You also tend to live a long, healthy life. Since many people know this, most of them rush to losing weight. Unfortunately, many of them make plenty of costly mistakes.

To help you out, here are some of the mistakes and how to avoid making them:

Taking the wrong diet

There are many weight loss diets in the market that promise to help you lose weight in the shortest time possible. While some of the diets work, others don’t. To be safe and also lose weight the right way, you need to be cautious of the diet you take.

Before you start taking any diet take your time to research about it. You should research its contents, the duration you should take it, and many other things.  As a rule of thumb, you should never take a diet blindly, as there are some diets that will cause more harm than good.

When you are doing your research, you should stay away from diets that completely eliminate carbohydrates, proteins or other nutrients as they will be harmful to you.

Diets aren’t bad as long as you take the right ones and take them correctly. For ideal results, you should use a diet that contains all the necessary nutrients.

Engaging in intense exercises too early

When people make a resolution to lose weight, they want to lose as much as they can within the shortest time possible. To make this possible, they engage in intense exercises. As much as you would want your body to shed as much weight as possible, it won’t as it isn’t programmed to work that way.

According to studies, when you expose your body to a lot of strenuous exercises, the body stops working. Due to this, you feel too tired and you might give up. To be on the safe side you should begin with basic exercises and slowly progress to the tough ones.

Exercising without a plan

There is a difference between exercising for fun and doing it to lose weight. It’s good to know that you won’t head anywhere if you exercise to lose weight the same way you do when you are looking to have fun.

When you are looking to lose weight, you need to have a weight loss plan. I see many people looking to lose weight and yet they exercise when the mood strikes. This is wrong. For you to be successful you need to have a plan and strictly stick to it. You should set the time and days you will be exercising and stick with them.

For you to lose weight, you need to exercise different muscles in your body. This calls for you to engage in different types of exercises. You should remember that there is no way you will get slim if you   exercise only one set of muscles.

Your exercise should be all round. In summary, you should come up with a plan of the exercises that you will be engaging in and follow through.

Conclusion

These are some of the mistakes you should avoid making when you are looking to be slim. To have an easy ride, you should work closely with a professional trainer.

Drinking Alkaline Water Benefits

Lately, there has been a lot of buzz about alkaline water. A lot of celebs, including Miranda Kerr, have promoted the health perks, but what’s the noise all about?

In this particular post, we will decode the basics of the concept and how you can choose to make the most of it.

1. Acidic vs alkalinic.  On the pH scale, anything with a pH of 7 or more is considered to be alkaline in nature, anything below is acidic.

It is believed the high pH of the foods and beverages we drink can help in neutralizing acid levels in the body, offering a wide range of benefits.  Alkaline water and its benefits also come with similar results.

2. The whole concept of high pH water started with the alkaline diet, which propagates a healthy way of living, cutting down meat and dairy from the diet.  Of course, most people found the idea tough for daily food requirements, and hence, to gain the benefits and see results, they started switching to high pH water.

Followers of the diet believe that alkaline water is good enough to reap limited benefits of the diet.

3. High quality alkaline water has a pH level of 8 or more. Naturally, the water around streams and waterfalls are known to have better pH, owing to the presence of mineral-containing rocks.  However, since most people won’t have access to fresh spring water, people now use packaged water, which is manufactured artificially.

4. The benefits related to the concept are many.  Right from the positive impact on acid reflux to other aspects, such as detoxification and relief from joint pain.  Many users have claimed great things.

I personally purchased a very expensive machine years ago that produces 9.5pH water on a continuing basis.  I consider it well worth the cost.

It is also believed that alkaline water can impact the metabolism of the body and help people dealing with weight loss concerns. It can also contribute to regulating the blood sugar levels, which is an added advantage for diabetic patients.

5. The research and studies related to alkaline water are pretty limited, but the general results are known to be positive. The benefits will vary from person to person, but most of the regular customers have claimed significant outcomes.

Apart from the pluses mentioned above, alkaline water is also known to be great for the skin and ensures better hydration. Some of the leading brands are now adding essential minerals, vitamins and electrolytes for better benefits for the human body.

What Else to Know?

There are no major known side effects of alkaline water, as of now, and therefore, if you are considering a switch from regular tap water to bottled options with better pH, you are probably on the right track. However, it is a good idea to do your research and start reading in detail.

A lot of published articles in different science and health magazines have talked about the great benefits of alkaline water, which clearly is a good indicator. When you choose between brands, it is a good idea to carefully read the labels and check the added nutrient.

The Weight Loss Resolution Wobble

How’s your weight loss resolution going this year? Have you reached the point where your resolve wobbles? Let’s be honest. Does this happen every year?

Don’t worry, there are ways to get back on track easily. The first thing to realise is that you are only human. Most people are not perfectionists who can sustain a regime of eating and exercise that they do not completely enjoy.

When you tell yourself you can’t have something what happens? You want and crave it even more. That’s the body’s natural reaction when it thinks it is in a starvation situation. So here are a few tips to help you stay on track…

  • Don’t think of it as a diet – they don’t work!
    • Consider how you can love yourself more – you deserve it.
    • Do not demonise food by labelling it ‘Good’ or ‘Bad’ – you’ll crave the ‘bad’.
    • Tell yourself that all food is fuel, only some works better for you than others.
  • Make sure your new eating habits are sustainable by:
    • Create a lifestyle change with new foods and eating habits.
    • Eat food you love and that loves your body back.
    • Enjoy the food you eat.
    • Eat consciously switching your mind onto your body – eat until just full.
    • Have fun with food – try out new foods and menus to increase enjoyment.
    • Cut down on your portion size – use a smaller plate.
    • Cut down sugar or cut it out for long periods to stop your cravings.
    • Cooking from scratch will dramatically reduce your sugar intake.
    • Cut down your carbs to once a day.
    • Try eating brown rice instead of white, sweet potato or quinoa
  • Create an exercise routine that is sustainable:
    • Plan activities that are fun and that you love – the gym is not for everyone!
    • Challenge yourself by using a pedometer to increase your activity.
    • Find a friend to do it with.
    • Park further away from work and walk more.

Don’t worry if your resolve and motivation wavers. That’s natural. Have a plan of action that gets you back on track easily. Plan to very occasionally eat foods you love that do not love your body. Enjoy and savour every mouthful without any guilt. You will eat less of it and by not fully restricting it you will not crave it.

Finally, watch your stress levels they will lead you back to comfort eating. Find ways to reduce your stress such as exercise, mindfulness, laughter and talking to a trusted friend or counsellor.

Make this you’re resolution revolution by creating the lifestyle change that loves you back!

Four Mental Keys to Burning Fat

Do you know what is the best way to start losing weight? It is to start losing it in your head. And I’m not trying to say you have a fat head either! What I am referring to is your mental referencing towards losing weight.

You see, here is what happens. Your thoughts become actions and your actions become habits. So a thought like, “I’ll never lose my stubborn body fat!” will lead you to not even trying to exercise, which will become a habit and next thing you know you haven’t burned any fat at all!

As with any long-term goal, like losing weight, it is important to have a flexible approach and a steadfast goal like being at a certain weight. That way if you can see when something isn’t working you can always change what isn’t working. Basically what I am saying is this, don’t marry the method, do what it takes to get it done.

Here are four mental shifts you can make right now:

Negative self talk

We have all had it, the little voice in the back of your head that says, “Don’t work out, you’ve had a long day at work and you deserve a break.” Thoughts like that are what destroy long-term weight loss results! If we listened to that little voice, those actions would eventually become habits. Here is the solution, replace that thought with a positive reinforcement like, “If I work out tonight, I’ll have so much more energy!”

Expecting unrealistic results

With a loss of weight there will come a variety of changes in your life. However, you can’t expect your life to be flipped on its head just because you have lost a bit of weight either! Let’s be realistic, a loss of weight can’t guarantee a better job or social life, but can go a long way in improving those areas.

Inflexibility

In order to lose weight it isn’t necessary to ‘gung-ho’ and quit all your unhealthy habits at once, as this can put real pressure on yourself! It’s OK to treat yourself once in a while, but make sure you do it because you are feeling happy and not sad.

All or nothingWe are all human, and everyone has slipped up on our diets in the past! (Yours truly included) But does that mean you have lost any chance to get to your perfect body weight? No, of course not, there is always another day when you will have a chance to improve your best!

It is so easy to sabotage yourself before you have even begun to start your weight loss journey! Just remember to be flexible in your approach and steadfast in your goals.   If you make a mistake, there is always another day.
